Perth is found on the banks of the largest river in the British Isles - the mighty River Tay – which contains more water than the River Severn and the River Thames added together! The former royal burgh is easily reached by road, train or bus.

There are 4 bridges that cross the River Tay at Perth; Friarton Bridge, Smeaton's Bridge, the Perth railway bridge and the Queen's Bridge which was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1960.

Perth is home to two Historic Scotland properties, namely Huntingtower Castle and Elcho Castle. Perth is also famous for its Inches, the South Inch and North Inch. These are large grass parks found on the western side of the River Tay and joined by Tay Street. This is a common place for snowball fights in winter and picnics in the summer months.

Perth is continually awarded by the Beautiful Britain committee, for the large effort that goes into keeping the city’s streets and public gardens blooming with beautiful flowers all year round.
