Perthshire's Loch Tay

Loch Tay is a freshwater loch in Highland Perthshire. During the Iron Age people lived on man-made islands on the loch, called Crannogs, a replica is still there today, for tourists. More than 20 submerged crannogs have been identified in the loch.

Loch Tay is long and narrow at around 23 km long, and typically around 2km. Loch Tay is the sixth largest loch in Scotland and exceeds 150 m deep in some places.
